Team Belgium - WOC (Prague)
7 October 2018The 42nd World Othello Championship will be held in Prague this year. Belgium will send, as last year, a full team of five players. The competition will take place from October 9th until October 12th in the capital of the Czech Republic.
As usual the tournament takes off with the opening reception on Tuesday evening (October 9th), the opening pairings included. A total of 13 games have to be played on Wednesday October 10th and Thursday October 11th to determine the qualified players for the (semi) finals. Our Belgian players will probably not involved in this battle; in all categories (elite, women and youth) many strong players are present. But we all remember that Rosalinde de Boer just missed the ladies semi finals last year and ended 5th over there. So who knows. Those finals will be held on Friday October 12th. That day will be concluded with the victory dinner, prize ceremony included.
In the weekend of October 13th and October 14th there will be a game festival in Prague and will get a central place in that event. All players can have another go to play at their very best in one of the alternative Othello competitions.
