Roel Hobo wins Antwerp Othello Open

Roel Hobo wins Antwerp Othello Open 22 September 2024

Roel Hobo wins the Antwerp Othello Open. In a Dutch clean sweep, Roel Hobo, Daniel Dufour and Mark Dufour occupied the first three places in the 15th Antwerp Othello Open, hosted by Jan Van Damme. The weather was perfect to play outside and this inspired our Dutch visitors. Roel Hobo won all his games, both Daniel and Mark Dufour finished with 5 wins. Best Belgian player was Nick Reunes, who remains candidate to win the Belgian Grand Prix. Ralph Reijnders is the other candidate (and not Tom Schotte - winner of the previous 14 Belgian Grand Prixs, he is out the race). Mentionable was the visit of Ewa Kujawa, who especially came for Poland for this event (or did it have to do something with a badminton tournament that week? We'll probably never know). Nadja De Moor (kicking Tom's *ss in the last round), was best woman and Hifang Ni best beginner.
Wout Schotte kept the Belgian honor by winning the promising tournament, defeating a strong Noa Dufour. Happy to see Qizheng Zhang making another appearance. Everyone won and lost at least one game. Most notable result was the 32-31 win from Stan Roos against Noa Dufour.
