Tom Schotte, Virginie Ortegat and Sander Schotte new Belgian champions 17 November 2024

24 players participated the 41st Belgian Othello Championship in Diegem. Tom Schotte wins his 15th Belgian Othello Championship. In a fierce battle for the final, the reigning champion won his first six games. In the last round he lost to Nick Reunes, also ending on six points. Dispong Kiatnarongrob, who started with 5/5 also scored his 6th point in round 7. Unfortunately for him, the other players had a better tie-break. Tom Schotte took the upper hand in the final, declining Nick Reunes a 3rd title (collecting an 8th silver medal instead).
In the female category (7 competitors), last year's winner Nadja De Moor finished third and missed the final. Nancy Darck (4/7) and Virginie Ortegat (5/7) qualified for the final, in which Virginie Ortegat prevailed.
In the junior category (6 competitors), Sander (3/7) and Wout Schotte (4/7) qualified for the final in which Sander defeated his younger brother and claimed his third junior title. Wout lost the final for the 5th consecutive time.

We've seen an extremely successful Belgian Othello season with no less than 46 active players, with some come-backs but also with a high amount of new players.
